Another Grove for Merkel

German crane rental company Merkel Autokrane has taken delivery of a 250 tonne Grove GMK 5250L All Terrain crane.

The five axle crane features a 60 metre main boom plus 11.2 metre bi-fold swingaway extension which can be extended to 17.8 metres. The crane can carry 10.2 tonnes of counterweight on the road within 12 tonne axle loadings.

Managing director Günther Merkel said: "With a boom length of 70 metres and a very good payload, it is very suitable for tower crane installations. In our opinion, the GMK 5250L is still the most universally applicable crane in this class."

Merkel’s Karl-Heinz Göring added: "For the crane driver, of course, there was also a 'full cab', so nothing stands in the way of successful use. The crane shone with an exemplary low consumption of less than 65 litres per 100 kilometres."
