New pads from Outriggerpads

UK based outrigger mat specialist Outriggerpads has launched three new Premium mats for heavy cranes, and a ‘shoe pad’ for Hinowa Lightlift spider lifts.

Manufactured from heavy duty polyethylene, the Premium mats retain their shape under extreme pressure due to the material’s ‘muscle memory’ properties. They are also water resistant and do not corrode or splinter. The first mat is two metres square x 100mm, has a 250 tonne capacity and weighs under 400kg. It features integrated steel bar handles for ease of lifting. The second mat is 1.1 metre square x 40mm, has a capacity of up to 60 tonnes and weighs less than 47kg. The third new product is a circular 1.2 metre x 50mm pad, with a load capacity of 65 tonnes and weighs less than 55kg.

On the powered access side, the ‘shoe pad’ for Hinowa Lightlift spider lifts is designed to fit around the circular foot plate of each outrigger. Once fitted, they will remain in place, so they don’t need to be placed down and picked back up after each job.

The company also plans to launch an updated version of its steel bar handle pads by the end of the year. The pads have four integrated steel bar handles, and a corner bracket will be added, making them stackable and enabling crane operators to lift the full set all in one go. In addition, the company is also launching a set of jacking and cribbing blocks for workshops.

Business development manager Charles Grizzle said: “Our product development programme is customer led. We carefully listen to our clients and introduce new or updated spreader plates to meet their needs. Globally, the heavy crane market continues to grow for us, as operators increasingly understand the efficiency and cost benefits to using UHMW polyethylene over more traditional crane pad materials.”

“Hinowa tracked booms are designed to work on terrain that is simply unsuitable for conventional rough terrain machines. It is therefore even more important that operators of these specialist booms use the correct outrigger pads, in order to spread the load on soft and uneven ground.”
