The incident occurred yesterday on the M80 Western ring road, when a truck pulled over onto the hard shoulder and the two occupants got out to check the load. A five axle All Terrain crane travelling a mile or two behind struck the truck as it passed, killing a man, reported to be the driver’s mate, 34, as he was checking the load straps on the road side of the vehicle. The truck driver also sustained injuries. The crane then veered off the highway and came to a stop.
No one else was hurt or involved in the incident.
