Van mount bridge bash

A boom and platform were ripped off of a van mounted aerial lift in Hebburn, near Gateshead, north east England yesterday after the driver tried to pass under a low headroom bridge in the town.

The van, with just the turret left in place, and its boom were recovered by a local coach work contractor, using two small trucks and a loader crane, with the road re-opening a few hours later. Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident

The recovery is almost complete

The local police said: “Officers attended the scene and it appeared an Iveco Cherry picker vehicle had become lodged while trying to pass underneath the Metro bridge. The driver was uninjured in the collision and there were no other vehicles involved.”

The lift is owned by Triple A Access which offers it for rent complete with driver.
