Liebherr acquires Morrow Australia/NZ

Liebherr Australia has acquired the business activities of tower crane and hoist sales and rental company Morrow Equipment Company.

The deal includes the transfer of all Morrow Equipment employees to Liebherr, the assumption of all ongoing contracts and commercial arrangements, along with its three locations in Sydney, Brisbane and Wellington. The transfer will take place at the start of the new year.

The Morrow Australia and New Zealand operations are part of the Salem, Oregon, USA based Morrow group which is the exclusive Liebherr tower crane distributor in the United States, Canada and New Zealand, while handling Liebherr harbour mobile and container gantry cranes in Australia and New Zealand. No details of the transaction have been released.

Morrow Equipment president Christian Chalupny said: “Two points were important to this decision. 1. That all Morrow employees were able to become part of the Liebherr team. And 2. That Liebherr will continue to support all existing contracts and customer relations.”

Marco Guariglia, managing director of Liebherr's Tower Cranes division added: “We are convinced that we will successfully shape the future with the entire staff at all locations, and in the interest of our customers.”

Thomas Schröder and Craig Jones, the new managers of the expanded Tower Cranes division at Liebherr Australia said: We are looking forward to consolidating and further expanding along with the employees what has been achieved so far. The know how of the staff, a rental fleet of around 100 tower cranes and 40 hoists, as well as the intention to grow that business were a commitment to further support the customers and the local market.”
