New location for Platformers’ Days
Platformers’ Days will move from its long term location in Hohenroda, Germany, to Karlsruhe, in the south west of the country for 2020.
The next event will take place on the 18th and 19th of September 2020, at the Messe Karlsruhe exhibition centre. The event has been at its current location in Hohenroda since it began in 1999. The organisers have stated that the all inclusive formula, with on site catering, and evening networking will remain the same at the new venue.

Show co-organiser Oliwer Sven Dahms said: “As co-founder of the Platformers’ Days, it is particularly important to me that the event continues to develop positively. Through the cooperation with the Karlsruhe exhibition centre, the work that has been invested so far will continue to bear fruit. I am convinced that the Platformers’ Days in Karlsruhe will find an ideal new home and I am really looking forward to working with them.”
Vertikal Comment
It’s a courageous step for Platformers Days and a big change from the familiar, friendly but remote site in Hohenroda. It was set up there as little more than a joint open day by a number of aerial lift manufacturers and importers, due to its central location close to the old East German border. The event fell out of popularity a little a few years back, but the organisers managed to pull it back on track with some of the best attended events over the past three years or so.
In June this year, a small group of importers Platformers Days exhibitors held an Innovationstag - innovation day – in Fulda, which is fairly close to Hohenroda. While not at all well attended, the organisers decided to take the Platformers tradition dates in 2019 and its venue in Hohenroda, in the hope, perhaps that this might give the new event a much needed boost in a year that Platformers was off due to it being a Bauma year.
Perhaps this move encourage the Platformers Days team to move venue, especially given that it was very clear this year that the even has outgrown the Hohenroda location. In fact if truth be known it became too big for the venue several years back. Karlsruhe will be a good deal easier for most exhibitors and visitors given its proximity to a major cross roads of the Autobahn network and large conurbations.
Leaving Hohendroda will be sad in that many exhibitors have fond memories of the events progress on the site which has changed and developed considerably since 1999. But the change could also give the event a completely new lease of life as it celebrates 20 years?
