Certex opens new offshore centre
Certex has opened a new regional distribution centre in Aberdeen targeted at improving its lifting gear service to the offshore market.
Located on the Harehill Industrial Estate, the 1,000 Square metre (11,000ft²) facility includes manufacturing capabilities, dedicated training facilities, warehouse space and offices.
It will operate along the same lines as Certex’s 15 other regional distribution centres and will handle lifting gear sales, product hire, and repair and maintenance as well as product inspection and testing.
Sales and Service at the new centre will be managed by Eddie Mowatt, while the training centre will report into George Coull, the Certex training manager, a former chief examiner and director of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA).

Dave Butler, general manager of Certex’s offshore operations, said “Our new premises allow us to give customers in this niche market immediate access to a wide range of products as well as providing additional services tailored to their specific local requirements, such as the refurbishment of off-shore lifting equipment or the provision of legally required training”.
Certex already has an offshore centre in Great Yarmouth, which has grown rapidly over the last five years. Butler puts it down to a high quality 365 days a year service, which it plans to duplicate in Aberdeen.
