Two LHM 550s for Mozambique

Mozambique based Maputo Port Development Company has taken delivery of two 144 tonne Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour cranes.

The LHM 550 provides a radius of 54 metres and will handle high density bulk materials such as ferrochrome, one of the main products being handled at the port on the Indian Ocean. They join two LHM 550 cranes that were purchased back in 2015.

Chief operations officer Marla Calado said: “In addition to the two mobile harbour cranes, we have recently acquired 14 payloaders, eight tractors, eight forklifts and two rail excavators for wagon unloading operations. This investment is in line with the need to improve the berth usage and the rehabilitation and deepening works that are taking place at the moment.”
