Riwal opens new UK depot
Riwal UK formally opened its new depot in Hemel Hempstead, north of London with an open day yesterday.
The event gave visitors the chance to look around the new 3,716 square metre facility located just off the M1 motorway, which can house up to 700 machines along with the company's national customer centre and hire desk. The investment in the new facility includes a substantial amount to make it as sustainable as possible, with features including rooftop solar panels for preheating hot water, and rainwater harvesting to reuse grey water. Riwal is also focusing on the wider electrification of its fleet, and the new depot is home to some of the company’s unique 135ft JLG 1350SJP all electric boom lifts.

UK country manager Mick Ledden said: “This is a major step in our plans to expand Riwal services in the UK, offering an unrivalled range of high quality powered access machines for hire. Riwal North London is in a perfect strategic location to serve the capital, the northern section of the M25, including Heathrow and Stansted airports, and up into the Midlands along the M1 and A1 corridors. The depot has excellent sustainability features and will allow us to serve our growing customer base in the south east promptly and efficiently in line with the most challenging cost and environmental controls.”
Riwal chairman Doron Livnat added: “We want to take care of our own surroundings and the environment. Our growth is down to green field operations, and the company believes very much in natural growth. We are a niche player, and we want to keep our niche and be a market leader.”
