New MDs for XCMG Europe

Chinese crane and aerial lift manufacturer XCMG has appointed Harald Riedinger and Chengyu Zhang as managing directors of its European Research and Development Centre.

Riedinger succeeds Oliver-Carlos Göhler, and has been promoted from his role as director competence centre cranes. Prior to that he was director of technology and innovation at Terex Cranes. He began his career in 1989 as a design engineer for Demag cranes working on telescopic boom models, and after five years in the role he was promoted to design engineer for crawler cranes. In 2000 he became senior design engineer for crawler cranes, and then senior welding engineer in 2009. He later took over as quality project manager and head of welding at Terex Cranes, before being promoted to operations director in 2012 and then director of technology and innovation a couple of years later.

Chengyu Zhang helped establish XCMG’s European Research and Development Centre in Krefeld, Germany seven years ago and replaces Hui Sun, who has returned to China to take on a new management role within XCMG.

When XCMG use the term “research and development” what they really mean is they have a new photo copier for copying the blue prints of other manufactures?
