Riga Mainz’s new MK 88 Plus

The four axle MK 88 Plus is a development of the standard MK 88, and can handle 2.2 tonnes at its maximum radius of 45 metres and an under hook height of 59 metres.

One of the recent jobs for the crane involved lifting an air conditioning unit onto the top of a building where access into the location was exceptionally tight. The operator, Alexandras Voroneckas, raised the crane tower while leaving the jib folded, and then drove the crane the last five metres down the alleyway into position, before setting the outriggers and unfolding the jib ready to carry out the lift.

Managing director Uwe Langer said: “The MK 88 is the ideal mobile construction crane for us and sufficient for the normal building heights in the narrow old city centre of Mainz. The crane simply has a very compact and manoeuvrable design. We will certainly soon place an order for the upcoming version of the MK 88, the MK 88-4.1.”

Based in Mainz, western Germany, Riga Mainz runs a fleet of more than 40 cranes including All Terrains, crawlers and self-erecting tower cranes.
