ACM and Kobelco to part

Australian Crane and Machinery (ACM) has said that it will no longer distribute Kobelco cranes, while stepping up its focus on the Zoomlion crane line.

So far it has only promoted Zoomlion Truck, Rough Terrain and All Terrain cranes, but will now add Zoomlion lattice crawler cranes and self-propelled aerial work platforms to its active product line.

The company has been the Kobelco Cranes distributor for Australia and New Zealand since it was established in 2004 and sells the full line of Kobelco lattice and telescopic cranes. Managing director Ben Potter said that it made the decision to relinquish the dealership “due to Kobelco’s diminishing product line and current lengthy delay issues”, adding that it will continue offer product support for Kobelco cranes until the end of the year.

Potter added that Kobelco will shortly make its own announcement regarding the future distribution and support for its cranes in Australia.
The manufacturer has its own operation in the Eastern Creek area of Sydney which currently acts as master distributor/importer for the company’s excavator range.

ACM and Kobelco to part

UPDATE

The following statement has been issued by Kobelco:

“Kobelco Construction Machinery of Tokyo, Japan and Australian Crane & Machinery of Melbourne in Australia have mutually agreed to terminate their dealership agreement covering Kobelco branded cranes in the Oceania region as of December 31, 2019. At this time, Kobelco is preparing to appoint a new dealer in the Oceania region whom we will introduce in the near future.”

“In the meantime, until we officially appoint a new dealer, Kobelco and ACM will cooperate with each other through the next several weeks to continue to provide Kobelco customers with the high level of technical support and parts supply that our end users expect, and to minimise any disruptions for owners of Kobelco cranes.”

“From February 1, 2020, we expect to have our new sales and product support dealer on-board and serving Kobelco crane users throughout the Oceania region.”

“Finally, we, Kobelco renew our commitment to develop and supply even better products to the marketplace and provide a product support system that exceeds the expectations of Kobelco crane owners in the Oceania region.”

“We appreciate the kind understanding of our valued Kobelco customers during this brief transition period.”

Based in Melbourne with a branch in Adelaide, ACM offers locally built Humma pick & carry cranes as well as its own truck and rail mounted aerial work platforms with working heights ranging from 12 to 70 metres.
