Dica acquires Linton Rigging

US outrigger pad and cribbing block manufacturer Dica has acquired sling protection company Linton Rigging Gear Supplies.

Linton Rigging provides a range of edge protectors that prevent slings from becoming damaged from sharp corners or load edges. Company owner, Ray Linton, attended several Conexpo shows in the 1990s in order to find a solution for sling protection before eventually inventing a product. Made of nylon, the edge protectors are considerably lighter than steel and are available with velcro or magnets to ensure slings stay in place. Linton will remain with the company in a consulting role during a transition period.

Dica chief executive Kris Koberg said: “Much as Dica was founded on the quest to build a better outrigger pad, the Linton edge protector was born out of an industry need. Ray Linton’s design was a revolutionary concept when he introduced nylon sling protectors to the rigging industry nearly 20 years ago. Linton’s engineered products are designed to be lightweight, easy to use, and improve safety and productivity. These are the type of qualities customers expect from all Dica products.”

Linton added: “We started with $1,000 and an idea. We are happy this idea became a product that reduces risk in the crane and rigging industry. We are glad the legacy of our work will continue under the care of Dica.”
