Truck mounted spider lift

A UK company has been using a truck mounted platform and Spider Man suit to help raise funds for the country’s National Health Service.

With new business a little on the slow side due to Covid-19, Alan Harwood, owner of UK access rental and property maintenance company Sky Lift Plant Hire, has been spending his time helping raise money in a rather unique way.

He started off by getting his Ruthmann TK310 truck mounted platform decorated with an impressive Spider Man livery wrap, before dressing up as the super hero in order to perform and bring a bit of happiness to families and children currently in lockdown.

Just your friendly neighborhood Spider Man

He said: “During the first week of lockdown I had a contractor that required access to a number of high rise flats in Brighton. This was when I witnessed how many children were there waving and in lockdown. So I purchased a Spider Man suit to cheer them up while out working. I asked the contractor if he minded me cheering up the families on the balconies and a big yes was the answer. From there on I spent all the savings I had on the truck and since then have travelled all over East Sussex, Lewes, Brighton, Worthing, Newhaven, Eastbourne, Seaford, Shoreham, Bognor Regis and West Sussex. It’s the kids that don’t really understand and the smiles I’m putting on faces makes it priceless.”

Harwood is attempting to reach £10,000 with every penny raised going toward protective equipment for NHS care workers, nurses and doctors. To see how Harwood is getting on or to donate to his cause, visit his GoFundMe Page

Harwood's marvel-ous truck mount platform

Given the situation the world currently finds itself in we will leave on a rather fitting quote from Spider Man: “No matter how buried it gets, or lost you feel, you must promise me, that you will hold on to hope, and keep it alive. We have to be greater than what we suffer. My wish for you is to become hope. People need that.”

Have a great weekend.
