Two new Demags for Weiss

German crane rental company Weiss Kranservice has taken delivery of two new Demag All Terrain cranes, a 220 tonne AC 220-5 and a 300 tonne AC 300-6.

The five axle AC 220-5 features an eight section 78 metre main boom, plus an 11.4 to 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension for a 99 metre maximum tip height. The six axle AC 300-6 has an 80 metre main boom plus a 21 metre bi-fold extension and can handle up to 15 tonnes on its fully extended main boom. The cranes also include hook mounted cameras and the IC-1 Plus control system.

The new cranes will primarily be employed on the installation and dismantling of the company’s 280 tower cranes. Crane operator Dominik Magg said: “The two new Demag models AC 220-5 and AC 300-6, perfectly complement our 220 tonne Tadano ATF 220. I particularly appreciate the 300 tonner which can lift 15 tonnes with the 80 metre main boom fully extended."

A team of three crane operators travelled from the company’s base in Mindelheim, Bavaria, to collect the new cranes from the Demag plant in Zweibrücken.
