New Potain topless from China

Potain has announced the launch of the MCT 275 topless crane built at the company’s plant in China.

The launch showed the 10 tonne version of the MCT 275 with its full 70 metre jib installed at a virtual launch event at the Manitowoc group factory in Zhangjiagang, China, yesterday.

The new model incorporates the features and technology introduced with the 12 and 16 tonne MCT 325 launched last year. Potain launched its first topless crane from the Zhangjiagang factory - the MCT 385 - in 2014. Since then the company has added the MCT 205, MCT 85, MCT 325, MCT 565 and now the MCT 275 to complement the range. The MCT 275 will ultimately replace the MC 235 model, an aging but popular hammerhead top slewing crane.

The MCT 275 offers jib length configurations from 30 to 70 metres in increments of five metres. At its 70 metre jib tip it can handle 2.3 tonnes for the 10 tonne version and 2.2 tonnes on the 12 tonne version.

As with other cranes in the range, the MCT 275 is designed for easy transport and assembly, plus high efficiency and reliability on site. On a well prepared site, the MCT 275 can be setup within 1.5 days, with the full jib and counter jib erected in four lifts. The complete upper part of the crane can be transported in six containers.

The MCT 275 is designed to work with the two metre square L68 tower systems and can be utilised with fixing angles on a regular high rise construction project. Users can also assemble the crane in an internal climbing configuration or mounted on a chassis, for maximum versatility.

A variety of options are available for the hoist, slew and trolley mechanisms. The 10 tonner includes the 60 LVF25 hoist as standard which can lift 2.5 tonnes at up to 88m/min, with a rope capacity of 500 metres. The 75 HPL25 is available as an option, which can lift 350kg at up to 215m/min with a rope capacity of 834 metres. The 12 tonne crane has the 75 LVFC30 hoist as standard which can lift 1.5 tonnes at up to 114m/min, with a rope capacity of 766 metres. It also has the 75 HPL30 as an option.
