UK’s first 110t Liebherr

UK crane rental company ABA Cranes has taken delivery of the first 110 tonne Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 -in the UK.

The very first LTM 1110 was shipped to Roxu in Spain in June but deliveries have since begun to ramp up. The new five axle crane has a 60 metre seven section main boom, topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold lattice swingaway extension. Two additional inserts are also available to install between the boom nose and the extension taking it to 33 metres, for a maximum tip height of 97 metres.

The LTM 1110-5.1 is rated at three metres, while it can handle 8.6 tonnes on the fully extended main boom at a 10 metre radius, or 700kg at its maximum main boom radius of 56 metres. The extension capacities range from 9.5 tonnes on the 10 metre first stage, up to 2.8 metres on the 19 metres at a hook height of almost 80 metres.

The new crane has wider rear outriggers than the front which, when combined with the Liebherr VarioBase variable outrigger set up system, provides even greater set up versatility. It can travel legally in the UK with all of its 29 tonnes of counterweight and the extension with 16 tonne axle weights, or meet 10 tonne axle loads when the counterweight is removed. The single engine crane is also equipped with a four camera CCTV system with live feed for added safety both on the road and on site, along with Ecomode and Ecodrive systems that help reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency.

ABA managing director Adrian Baggott said: “We are excited to be expanding our fleet with the first Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 in the UK. We were really impressed with this crane when it was released at Bauma last year, especially with it being able to travel on UK roads complete with its full 29 tonne counterweight. Its superb lifting capacities along with its 60 metre boom made it the right decision for our business. After the success of the Liebherr MK88 and the positive feedback from not only the operator but also our client base, we look forward to continuing our business relationship with Liebherr.”
