Gerken adds Bronto 101

Düsseldorf based Gerken has taken delivery of its Bronto GL101 truck mounted lift, the highest work platform in the world. The Bronto joins Gerken’s 100 metre Ruthmann lift.

The new lift was soon put to work, inspecting an external stainless steel chimney stack for damage at the printing plant of one of a large German newspaper following almost hurricane level winds.

With its lighter weight and more compact dimensions the company was able to manoeuvre the Bronto much closer to the building than would have been possibly with the older Ruthmann which has been in the fleet for three years and is one of only two units in operation.

“These characteristics make the GL 101 suitable for new fields of use which until now were absolutely out of bounds for 100 metre platforms.” Said Ludger Pottbecker, head of the vehicle mounted lift division at Gerken. “Areas which so far could not support the load of 100 metre working platforms can now be used as well."

Gerken now has 11 truck-mounted working platforms with working heights of above 70 metres.
