Second Grove GMK5150L for Wiesbauer
German crane rental company Wiesbauer has taken delivery of a second 150 tonne Grove GMK5150L All Terrain crane.
The GMK5150L features a 60 metre main boom topped by an 11.2 to 17.2 metre bi-fold swingaway which can be extended with inserts to 33.4 metre for a 97 metre maximum tip height. It can travel with 10.2 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loadings. Features include boom tip camera system, and the manufacturer’s MAXbase variable outrigger set up and monitoring.

Florian and Felix Wiesbauer travelled to the factory in Wilhelmshaven with three of their crane operators in order to take delivery. Felix Wiesbauer said: “The strong price performance ratio and high capacity of the GMK5150L convinced us to invest in this 150 tonne Grove. As a family owned business, it is important to us that our crane operators feel comfortable at work. The Grove cab and MAXbase system definitely contribute to this.”
Operator Jannik Weigle added: “The MAXbase option makes work easier. You can adapt the crane to suit the site conditions and, on the side, facing away from the load, for example, operate with half extended outriggers.”

After the handover the new crane was driven to the Wiesbauer’s base on Bietigheim-Bissingen for its first job relocating a fire water tank weighing almost 22 tonnes. This was followed with the installation of an Potain MDT 178 tower crane which involved lifts of up to 10.5 tonnes at a distance of 18 metres.
Wiesbauer operates from four branches in addition to its headquarters, covering Baden-Württemberg. It runs a fleet of around 80 cranes and employs 160.
