Big crawler topples

A 200 crawler crane belonging to All (Erection) tipped over last night dropping its boom and luffing jib onto the ground on the Aventura Mall cosntruction site in Miami, Florida.

The cranes boom struck a man, breaking his leg. No one else was injured thanks to the fact that the crane had tipped straight forward and that the boom must have been at a relatively low angle.

The crane toppled forward

Inspectors from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were called out to the scene early reports claimed mechanical failure was the cause, however the crane which was tilted at a precarious angle was righted overnight.
