UK rental company Speedy has opened a new regional service centre in Reading aimed at improving its coverage of the Thames Valley region.
The new 1,675 square metre depot is more than twice the size of its previous location in the town and will offer the company’s full range of lifting equipment which includes powered access and hoists. It will also offer small tools, survey, fencing and general construction equipment.
The company says the move comes on the back on the pipeline of major house building proposals which will see more than 2,000 homes constructed in Reading itself. It also expects to add additional employees at the new location, as it expands its range of services later this year.
Dave Cummings, area manager for the south coast at Speedy, said: “This investment comes at an important time for the region. The pipeline of exciting new developments is building quickly across the city and there are growing number of local contractors that need access to a comprehensive range of tools and equipment hire and advice to support them in delivering their projects safely, on time and on budget. The move to significantly expand our presence represents the strength of our commitment to Reading and we look forward to continuing to build on the services we can provide for our customers.”
