Konecranes Generation 6

Konecranes has launched its sixth generation series of mobile harbour cranes, 15 years after introducing its fifth generation.

The latest ESP (Electric, Smart, Powerful) range will initially include six models with lifting capacities up to 200 tonnes and radii up to 64 metres. They will be available in two or four rope grab variations with up to 63 tonnes grab loads. As with previous generations, they will also be available as pontoon, mobile rubber tyred or portal rail mounted formats.

Electric power options include the power grid or onboard generator, while for the first time a large battery pack can also be used to move between quays. Hybrid versions remain an option.

The cranes feature new technology including the company’s Visumatic crane management and Truconnect telematics systems to provide terminal operators with performance data as well as maintenance and service information.

Finally, the range uses stronger steels and fabrications, which the company claims not only doubles the service life in container operations, but also offers up to 30 percent improved four rope grab capacities and up to 18 percent increased working speeds. The new cranes also feature an all new cab.

Heribert Barlage, senior vice president of mobile harbour cranes, said: "Generation 6 combines pioneering spirit with the innovative power of the technology leader Konecranes. Our mobile harbor cranes have always stood for performance and dynamics, and they have always been electric. We have once again enhanced these features for Generation 6, while at the same time providing a high level of intelligence. The result is a total package with which we make our customers well prepared to meet today's requirements and at the same time provide them with the code for the challenges of tomorrow: Electric, Smart, Powerful.”
