Four LTM 1110s for Guay

Canadian crane and heavy haulage company Guay has taken delivery of the first two 110 tonne Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 All Terrain cranes to be delivered in the country and placed an order for a further two units.

Replacing an ageing 120 tonne crane in the fleet, the new five axle LTM 1110-5.1 boosts a seven section 60 metre main boom plus a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension. Two seven metre lattice extensions can be added to provide a maximum tip height of almost 96 metres.

The new cranes feature Liebherr's VarioBase Plus outrigger system and can travel with 12 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loads. The new cranes will be predominately used for work within Montreal's metropolitan area.

Guay vice president Guillaume Gagnon, said: “In our market, a 110 tonne crane is the largest mobile crane on which an apprentice can work as the second man in alongside the operator. In addition, the axle loads and the weight distribution of the LTM 1110-5.1 are absolutely perfect and mean that we don’t have to use a boom dolly.”

Based in Quebec, Eastern Canada, Guay runs a fleet of more than 500 cranes from more than 20 locations. It also offers a range of lifting, rigging, and transport and heavy haulage services.
