Another 100t Kobelco for BPH

UK based BPH Equipment has taken delivery of its third new 100 tonne Kobelco CKE900G-3 crawler crane so far this year.

The three new cranes are all Tier 5/Stage V compliant and were supplied with full counterweight, 48.8 metres of main boom an auxiliary sheave, 35 tonne hook block, and 11 tonne headache ball for single work. The company has also taken delivery of two new, 135 tonne Kobelco CKE1350G-2s this year.

All three 100 tonners will be used on the construction of the UK’s HS2 High Speed railway network. The latest unit to arrive was delivered to the BPH yard in Long Bennington, near Newark, Nottinghamshire and was assembled and commissioned by Kobelco’s James McCulley working alongside two of BPH’s own engineers. Assembly and testing of the crane were completed in three days.

The new crane was ordered with 48.8m of boom

Once complete, the CKE900G-3 was transported to the HS2 site at Old Oak Common, where it is working for the Balfour Beatty, Vinci, Systra (BBVS) joint venture on a £1 billion main station contract. Also, on site are four of BPH’s Stage V/Tier 4 Final Kobelco CKE1350 crawler cranes working on the construction of the station box’s diaphragm walls and associated structures.

“This is the 11th CKE900G-3 delivered in the UK this year,” said McCulley. “With more still to come in 2021, and with a number of cranes already on order for 2022, the CKE900G-3 is proving to be the crane of choice in its class.”
