Italian spider and mini crawler crane manufacturer Jekko has appointed Jorge Menocal as sales area manager for South and Central America.
A computer and mechanical engineer by education, he joins the company from manufacturer’s representative company Equiptool365 which he founded in 2019. He started his career in 2000 as a sales representative for Hertz Rentals in Spain. Nine years later he took up a position as sales manager for rental company Maquinarias Paco, then at the end of 2013 he moved to Miami in the USA to take up a territory manager position with United Rentals covering the Miami region. In 2016 he joined Herc Equipment a few months after it was separated from the Hertz car rental business, leaving at the end of 2018 to set up his own business. The appointment is part of Jekko’s strategy of consolidating its presence in the South American market to meet the local increasing demand for its products such as the 15.5 tonne JF545 articulated spider crane a number of which have be sold in Mexico, the 3.2 tonne SPX532 spider crane which has sold well in Chile and Mexico, and the two tonne MPK20 and five tonne MPK50 mini pickers sold in Uruguay and Argentina.
Sales director Alberto Franceschini said: “We have decided to invest in Jorge C. Menocal because we think he’s a key player in the South American market and we hold him in high esteem. Now we have a leading figure in South America that will overcome the distances, serve the network better, and assist from close up the rental companies in a market where Jekko expects a sharp increase over the next five years."
