250 tonner for Calsimec

The crane rental division of Brazil’s Calsimec Group has taken delivery of a 250 tonne Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 All Terrain crane, to meet growing demand from mining companies in its home state of Minas Gerais which lies between Rio De Janeiro and Brasilia.

The five axle crane LTM 1250-5.1 replaces a 130 tonne Liebherr as the company’s flagship crane. It features a six section, 60 metre main boom plus a plus a 12.2 to 22 metre 36 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 45 degrees of offset. A wide range of extension options are available, topped by 50 metres of lattice, all of which can be offset by up to 45 degrees. The maximum tip height is 113 metres.

The new crane also includes Liebherr’s VarioBallast system which allows the crane to quickly adjust the counterweight effect from high long-reach capacities to a reduced tail swing for tight job sites. The chassis features ECOmode and ECOdrive systems to help reduce fuel consumption.

Operational manager André Tadeu said: “This new crane will guarantee our group greater competitiveness in the rental services market. We can also better implement industrial assembly work. Another important factor for Calsimec was the high quality standard of the Liebherr machines. We already have an LTM 1130-5.1 which provides us with reliable services.”

Industrial director Carlos Antonio dos Reis added: “It was very important for us to receive the new crane as soon as possible, to get to know the technical refinements and to be able to carry out the training of our employees. This enables us to achieve a better performance with our customers."
