Anti-trust challenges dog Cargotec-Konecranes merger

Konecranes and Cargotec have issued a statement saying that the requirements demanded to avoid potential anti-trust breaches are more complex than expected. In order to try and overcome them they are continuing their dialogue with the relevant competition authorities.

Konecranes and Cargotec say that they have discussed remedies based on a commitment to divest Konecranes' Lift Truck business and Cargotec's Kalmar Automation Solutions. Both companies say that they consider the remedy package offered as sufficient and feasible.

The two companies are now waiting on the authorities’ decisions and continue to work towards the merger being completed by the end of the first half of 2022. Until all merger closing conditions are met and the deal is completed, both companies will continue to operate fully separately and independently.
