Wac McCandless to handle JLG

JLG has appointed Wac McCandless as its distributor for Northern Ireland, as part of a change the manufacturer is making to its coverage of the Irish market. The new arrangement dates back to the start of the year.

Wac McCandless is the Komatsu dealer for Northern Ireland and has locations in both Belfast and the Dublin area, it also handles Faresin telehandlers, Atlas Copco, Esco, JLG Power Towers low level aerial lifts and now the full JLG line. The move will see Northern Ireland supplied directly from JLG’s base in Europe, rather than through the UK due to complications and costs arising from Brexit.

The company was established in 1943 as a motorcycle repair shop by the brothers Rex and Cromie Mc Candless. Over the years the company has handled NCK-Rapier, Yale and Ingersoll Rand, taking on Komatsu in 1961.

Gerald Carvill of WAC McCandless said: “WAC McCandless is delighted to announce the addition of the JLG access equipment range to our product portfolio, which is well known and respected throughout Northern Ireland, having been in the market for many years. The premium range of products JLG supplies fits well with the other premium brands we offer.”

Until relatively recently Aerial Platform Hire, was one of JLG’s oldest distribution partners, and covered all Ireland, and would have celebrated 40 years with the company in 2020 See: 30 years with JLG, but increasingly sales to rental companies are handled directly.
