Verhelst assumes Wolffkran activities in Belgium

German tower crane manufacturer Wolffkran has appointed Verhelst Machines as its exclusive distributor in Belgium, along with non-exclusive distribution rights in the Netherlands.

The deal will also see Verhelst assume responsibility for Wolffkran’s tower crane rental activities in Belgium, currently based at Wolfkran Belgium in Bornem on the south side of Antwerp. The two companies have worked together for many years and as such, are confident that the new relationship will work well for both parties. Verhelst will handle all the sales and support for Wolffkran cranes in the region, while also adding to its existing rental fleet. Verhelst Machines' offer includes tower cranes - top slewers and self-erectors - and construction hoists. It also runs a fleet of telescopic cranes, mostly used for tower crane installation. The immediate sales target is to deliver 70 new cranes in the Benelux market over the next few years.

Chief executive Johan Verhelst said: “I am very proud and honoured to represent a brand like Wolffkran together with all the members of the Verhelst Machines team. This exclusive partnership is a result of a long lasting successful relationship in which both parties have shown honesty and reliability. These are also the values that Verhelst Machines shares with its customers. We are convinced that with this agreement we can even more colour the sky red!”

Wolffkran chief executive Duncan Salt added: “Over the years, we have built a relationship with Verhelst Machines based on trust and mutual respect for each other's competencies. We are confident that transferring our sales and rental business into the hands of our valued customer will significantly contribute to raising Wolffkran’s profile in Belgium and providing first class service to Wolff crane customers throughout the country.”

Established in 1997, with the incorporation of Plettinck-Sedan, Verhelst Machines is based in Ostend and rents, sells, services and repairs construction hoists, self-erecting cranes, tower cranes and mobile generators. It is a part of the family-owned Verhelst group, which was founded by Albéric Verhelst in 1925 and is now managed by the fourth generation in the form of Johan and his sister Kathleen. Johan took over the Verhelst Machines, Top-Mix concrete and Top Asphalt businesses in 2018, while Kathleen runs the construction materials, contracting and port logistics related Verhelst operations.
