Fatal crush incident

A man died while operating a boom lift in Tel Mond north of Tel Aviv, Israel, after he was crushed against a beam on the outside of an industrial building on Monday.

According to local police, two men had gone up in the platform to work on the building at a height of around six metres, at some point they moved the platform rearwards and came up against a beam behind them pressing the operator against the controls. Both men were injured, but the man at the controls, said to be in his 40s, died from the injuries he sustained in the incident.

As part of the investigation those responsible for the facility/site were detained for investigation and questioning. The police stated that the main direction of their investigation is ‘causing death by negligence’.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service came to the rescue with the injured man taken to hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.
