JLG announces ClearSky Smart Fleet

JLG is to launch a new interactive telematics solution – ‘ClearSky Smart Fleet’ – later this year.

The new development, announced this mornig at the IPAF Summit in Berlin by Jay Iyengar chief technology officer at JLG owner Oshkosh, will include a next generation Internet of Things (IoT)a platform for true, two way fleet management and machine interactivity.

Exact details of the differentiation what the ground-up redesign includes are limited, but the company says it will include: Digitised daily processes for operational efficiencies, more accurate and efficient machine location, additional equipment service capabilities, streamlined logistics with Automated Site Networks and actionable, on-demand machine and fleet insights It will eventually be standard equipment on most JLG machines.

Ara Eckel, director of product management for JLG’s connected solutions said: “Telematics today can only do so much. ClearSky Smart Fleet reimagines what’s possible, paving the way to a new frontier for connectivity solutions in the industry. More than yet another singular piece of software, it’s built as a robust, constantly evolving IoT platform capable of delivering new functionality, new insights and new ways to run cost-effective operations.”
