First Liebherrs for Sankyu

The Saudi Arabian division of Japanese industrial plant construction and maintenance contractor Sankyu, has taken delivery of two Liebherr All Terrain cranes, a 50 tonne LTM 1050-3.1 and 180 tonne LTM 1160-5.2.

The five axle LTM 1160-5.2 features a six section 62 metre main boom, plus a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension. Together with the three additional seven metre inserts between boom nose and swingaway it provides a maximum tip height of 104 metres and a maximum radius of 78 metres. The new cranes, the company’s first Liebherrs, will be mainly used for maintenance work in refineries and other industrial facilities.

The Sankyu Group of companies was established in 1918, while the Saudi operation was opened in May 2008. The name Sankyu comes from the English expression ‘thank you’.
