Boom snap in Manhattan

Five men working on a construction project in upper Manhattan, New York were injured last week when the boom of a large loader crane failed catastrophically.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Inwood area just north of the George Washington Bridge on the upper west side.

The crane - a large Cormach articulated crane - from the No Limit Lifting and Logistics fleet, was parked alongside the job site and in the process of lifting a large load of plywood into the site when the boom literally snapped off just above the first telescopic section. The crane had much of its main boom extended at the time. One of those injured was seriously hurt, but not to a life threatening level. The other injuries were said to be minor. Few other details were released.
