Speedy installs defibs in work vans

UK rental company Speedy Hire has launched a mobile defibrillator campaign with plans to install 300 defibrillators in its work vans.

The company has already installed defibrillators in 18 of its mobile service engineers’ vans. The company began working with the British Heart Foundation in 2021 and has installed 170 registered defibrillators across its depots making it easier for staff, the public and emergency services to reach them.

Statistics published by the British Heart Foundation show that 30,000 people suffer cardiac arrests each year, with less than one in 10 surviving. The campaign is supported by The British Heart Foundation, Trustford, Lex, and Aero Healthcare.

Aaron Powell of Speedy said: “Every minute without CPR or defibrillation reduces the chances of survival by up to 10% and our national presence through our engineer vans and depots enables more people to access the vital equipment in their time of need. We are committed to supporting employees and the communities in which we operate to help make a positive impact, particularly in those areas without easy access to a defibrillator."

Judy O’Sullivan of the British Heart Foundation added: "When a cardiac arrest happens, prompt CPR and use of a defibrillator gives someone the best chance of survival and so having members of the Speedy Hire team being equipped to help save a life could make all the difference in a medical emergency. This important work also highlights how vital it is for everybody to learn CPR, you never know when you might need it."
