EQSS produces the innovative OverWatch anti entrapment/secondary guarding system is based on a Lidar sensor, (Light Detection and Ranging or Laser Imaging, Detection, and Ranging), which uses an infrared light beam to track the operator’s movements. The system analyses the operator’s position and movement in relation to the motion of the scissor lift. It can then determine when an operator has moved abruptly or is in a dangerous position, either of which will immediately stop the machine usually without using the operator as a mechanical element to trigger the anti-crush device. The company also produces load monitoring devices for telehandlers.

The EQSS secondary guarding system is in wide usage now in Australia, where it is installed on well over 10,000 scissor lifts. Its European launch came in 2022 with a UK trial with five major contractors today the system is installed on almost 1,000 scissor lifts.

Global business manager Andrew Delahunt said: “Tahir is an outstanding person, and we are thrilled that he is leading our charge in the UK. Stopping accidents on elevating work platforms is the goal and crush protection on scissor lifts is an important part of that package. We are delighted with the progress to date and how receptive the UK market has been towards our solution.”

Managing Director Ross Bowden said: “We are delighted to expand with our first branch outside of Australia. This investment reinforces our support for our valued customers in the UK with the large amount of inventory that we now carry in our warehouse, we can now supply OverWatch kits locally, significantly reducing delivery times, and provide local servicing and site support.”

Tahir added: “I am extremely excited to be part of the EQSS journey in the UK. I have a passion for safety and innovation, and through the introduction of EQSS’s high tech solutions, we are helping to keep British workers safe.”
