Liebherr and Mammoet have confirmed that the Dutch company’s 6,000 tonne SK6000 mega crane employs Liebherr componentry, including the main lift winches.
The all electric SK6000 ring crane, which was complete this summer, uses four gear main winches, have a single line pull of 61.2 tonnes/600kN, which enable the SK6000 to not only manage the 6,000 tonne maximum capacity, but also take 3,000 tonnes to a height of 220 metres.
The two companies said that from the outset they relied on close cooperation in the design of the winches, with direct, personal coordination and direct information channels in the design and calculation stages. These not only included their performance, but also the need to fit in shipping containers.
Liebherr Antriebstechnik’s technical sales engineer Markus Groeber said: "As part of the project, Mammoet has made extensive use of Liebherr's extensive portfolio of components, the large winches for example were equipped with Liebherr's own gear rings, gearboxes and electric motors."
