UK Tool Hire Group has acquired UK based rental company Warren Access in an all share purchase deal.
Founded in 1993, Warren Access is set up as two companies - Warren Access and Warren Access Huntingdon - but trades as one, with both locations offering a wide range of aerial work platforms for rent, including scissors, booms and spider lifts as well as van and truck mounted lifts up to 33 metres, from locations in Newcastle and Huntingdon, along with a successful IPAF and PASMA training operation. In its latest filings the combined tangible net worth is around £170,000.
The company is owned by Graeme and Michelle Warren. In 2023 they celebrated 30 years in business, followed by the sad loss of company founder Derek Warren just a few weeks later.
Warren Access will continue to operate under its current name, while adding the wider product range available from UK Tool Hire.
UK Tool Hire is based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, west of Nottingham, with depots in Tipton and Nottingham. It began as MB Welding Supplies in 1995, moving into general rental as UK Tool Hire in 2003 when it was incorporated by current owners, John and Lisa Wilkinson. In 2007 they moved into powered access which now trades as UK Powered Access, followed by a training division in 2014. The company is a member of the Access Alliance. In its latest accounts from 2023, total revenues were £10.3 million with a pre-tax profit of £1.15 million.
John Wilkinson said: “We are extremely excited to welcome the talented team at Warren Access into the UK Tool Hire group family. This acquisition will significantly extend the UK Power Access fleet and its coverage into Cambridgeshire to complement its well established presence in the Midlands. Additionally, the new Newcastle upon Tyne location provides a gateway to the North East, unlocking exciting growth opportunities for the group and allow us to accelerate growth and deliver even greater value to our customers."
“I also wish to take this opportunity to thank Michelle and Graeme for their support, professionalism and care during this process.”
Graeme and Michelle Warren added: “Having known John for many years, we are delighted to see Warren Access enter this exciting new chapter under his leadership. We are confident the business will continue to thrive while staying true to the values that have defined our success. We look forward to seeing both businesses grow stronger together, delivering quality and care to customers. We can now confidently step away from the powered access industry to explore new ventures abroad, confident that the business will thrive under its new ownership.”
