New 60 tonner for McGovern

UK based McGovern Crane Hire has taken delivery of a 60 tonne Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 All Terrain crane.

The crane was the last to arrive as part of a four unit order, the other three cranes – a 90 tonne LTM 1090-4.2, 50 tonne LTM 1050-3.1 and an MK 140-5.1 mobile self erecting tower crane – all arrived in 2024.

The three axle LTM 1060-3.1 is equipped with a six section 48 metre boom, topped by a 9.5 to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension which takes the maximum tip height to more than 67 metres, while also offering up to 40 degrees of offset. The crane can carry all its 12.8 tonnes of counterweight within the UK’s STGO regulations which allows axle loads of up to 16.5 tonnes.

McGovern director, Kieran McGovern said: “Investing in Liebherr products has been an easy choice. Maintaining continuity in operating systems across our fleet is invaluable to us, it simplifies operator progress through the crane capacities.”

“No matter if it’s a 50 or 250 tonne machine, the basic operations are nearly identical, meaning the minor differences are much easier to understand and learn for our operators.”

“Most of the investments made in 2024 are to meet our regular plant replacement strategy which sees us refresh our cranes after approximately four years of service, meaning we can confidently say we run one of the latest fleets of machines available on the market.”

Established in 1995, McGovern operates a fleet of All Terrains from 50 to 250 tonnes as well as tower cranes, city cranes and spier cranes from its depot in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
