Angolan construction company Casais has taken delivery of a 50 tonne Liebherr LTM 1050-3.1 All Terrain crane. The crane was supplied through Bluway, the group's equipment procurement division.
The three axle crane features a 38 metre main boom which can be extended with a 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension for a maximum hook height of 54 metres. The crane can travel with most of its counterweight or its bi-fold extension, for regular taxi crane work.
The new crane joins a 36 year old 50 tonne Liebherr LTM 1050 from 1988 in the company's fleet, which is still in regular use. The new crane will be used for tower crane assembly and dismantling, railway maintenance and handling large water pipelines.
Chief operating officer Paulo Alves said: "By investing in the new crane, we are significantly increasing our own capacity. We can design processes efficiently and independently without rented machines, minimise downtimes and increase our productivity. We are now also in a better position to plan and implement our work processes."
Bluway general manager Luís Vilas Boas added: "Our mission within the Casais group is to add value, to achieve that we need reliable global partners that excel in quality machines like Liebherr."
Based in Braga, northern Portugal the Casais group operates across four continents with operations in 17 countries including Portugal, Angola, France, UK, USA, Qatar, UAE, Spain, Germany and Belgium. The group focuses on civil engineering and construction. The Angolan operation employs around 3,000 people and specialises in building, infrastructure and road construction.
