UK rental company ABA Cranes raised £1,665 for the mental health charity 'Mates In Mind' through sales of its 2024 calendar, which featured lighthearted photos of team members.
The company chose to support 'Mates In Mind' to help address mental health stigma in the UK construction industry.
The company said: "Mental health has always been a taboo subject, especially for men and within the construction industry, where there is an expectation to carry on regardless and not talk about it. We thought it would be great to carry the same ethos as Mates in Mind - 'Be A Mate – Be the Change’.”

"In construction, we have trades people from all backgrounds, all with different situations. We feel bringing mental health to the forefront will hopefully give those that need help the courage to take steps to ask for it but also give others the confidence to ask if a 'Mate' is OK and open a discussion freely."

The initiative highlighted the serious issue of mental health in construction, where suicide rates are 3.7 times higher than the national average. A 2020 Chartered Institute of Building report found that 97 percent of construction workers experienced high stress levels, while 87 percent reported anxiety and 70 percent experienced depression over the previous year.
