A Qatari oil & gas company has had one of its 55 tonne Grove RT700E Rough Terrain cranes refurbished, rather than replacing the machine after 20 years of service. The work was carried out by local Grove dealer Mannai Heavy Equipment.
The RT700E model - discontinued in 2012 - features a 33.5 metre main boom and is powered by a six cylinder Cummins diesel. The crane has been working in the region's oil and gas sector, often operating in temperatures exceeding 45 degrees celsius.
The work was carried out through Manitowoc's EnCore programme, took 12 weeks to complete and included structural and component repairsalong with system upgrades, while key wearing parts were also replaced.
Mannai service manager Magdy Fawzi said: "Customers love Grove cranes and want to get the most out of them. EnCore is about maximising their value through tailored solutions that breathe new life into these trusted machines. But it's not just about extending machine life, it's about enabling our customers to confidently tackle ambitious projects, knowing their equipment meets the highest standards of reliability and capability."
