Big basket boom from Tadano

Tadano is to launch a 63ft AS-63HD big basket, high capacity telescopic Rough Terrain boom lift at Bauma, initially for the North American market.

The new machine, which is similar to a product unofficially known as a 'scissor on a stick' that Tadano introduced in 2001 dropping a few years later. The new version features a platform that is 4.2 metres long, by 1.94 metres wide and mounted on a heavy duty four section telescopic boom with 360 degree continuous platform rotation and 360 degree slew.
The new unit

The new Tadano offers a maximum working height of 21 metres and a working outreach of around 12 metres, at which point the platform capacity is 120kg, while the maximum platform capacity of 1,000kg is available at up to 5.6 metres of outreach. The unit is driveable up to a 9.1 metre platform height.
The working area

When stowed for transport, the AS-63HD has an overall length of 6.9 metres an overall width of 2.46 metres and an overall height of 3.4 metres with guardrails up, dropping to around 2.7 metres height when they folded down. The overall weight is 12,800kg. Power is supplied by a Kubota diesel.

Standard features include an automatic load moment controller, four wheel drive and control lever guards. A generator and platform work lights are available as options.
The first machines will be available in North America around mid-year and will be rolled out to other markets later.
Tadano launched what it called the SuperDeck AW-210 SX in Europe in 2001, in competition with a tracked model built by Aichi. For a while it manufactured them at its plant in Lauf, Germany.
