German rental company Bäsmann Kran und Transport has taken delivery of a 60 tonne Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 All Terrain crane, marking its return to Liebherr after a 30 year gap.
The handover
The three axle LTM 1060-3.1 is equipped with a six section 48 metre boom, topped by a 9.5 to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension which takes the maximum tip height to more than 67 metres, while also offering up to 40 degrees of offset. The crane can carry all its 12.8 tonnes of counterweight within the UK’s STGO regulations which allows axle loads of up to 16.5 tonnes. A special folding jib has been ordered for work in confined spaces such as installing crane runways.

The new crane will be primarily used for work on biogas plants, as well as steel and concrete construction and agricultural applications.
Managing director Florian Bäsmann said: "We looked carefully at the market and spoke to other customers during the Liebherr Customer Days. The combination of versatile performance and Liebherr's broad product range eventually won us over. Given our technical requirements, we opted for the LTM 1060-3.1 from Liebherr to replace an old 60 tonne model - it fits perfectly into our fleet's mid-range segment."
The unit in operation
Based in Bülstedt, north-eastern Lower Saxony, Bäsmann operates a fleet of nine cranes with capacities from 40 to 220 tonnes along with a 27 metre work platform.
