Turkish earthmoving manufacturer Hidromek has unveiled a few more details its first telehandler, the 4,000KG/18 metre HMK 40-18 TH, which will be on its stand at Bauma this week.

The new machine has a four section boom with top mounted telescope cylinder and chain telescope system. It also features aggressive modern styling, high pressure piston type hydraulic pump, powershift transition and reverse fan cooling. We have yet to seem a load chart, but its maximum lift height is 17.65 metres, with up to 13.1 metres of forward reach. Overall width is 2.4 metres, overall stowed length 6.4 metres and overall height 2.55 metres, while total weight is 12,500kg.

The company is confident that it can make an inroad into the highly competitive telehandler market at a time when numerous Chinese manufacturers are attempting the same. The market was tough enough to start with and a good many large companies have found it too ‘hard a nut to crack’ in the face of the major well established players with their high volume production and well established networks and brand awareness.
But interest is growing in both the domestic Turkish market as well as a number of developing markets, and depending on its expectations this might create a decent business on its own.
