150 tonner for Ideal

US based Ideal Crane Rental placed an order for a 150 tonne Liebherr LTR 1150 telescopic crawler crane at Bauma earlier this month.

Launched in November 2023, the LTR 1150 fills the gap between the 100 tonne LTR 1100 and the 220 tonne LTR 1220. Liebherr claims the crane offers a 50 tonne capacity increase in many parts of the load chart compared to the LTR 1100, while remaining just as easy and economical to transport. The LTR 1150 is also positioned as an ideal assist crane for lattice crawlers up to 1,000 tonnes and capable of picking & carrying loads over 60 tonnes. It is designed for tasks that exceed the LTR 1100’s capabilities but don’t require the larger capacity of the LTR 1220.

The boom and extension configuration are the same as the LTR 1100, with a six section 52 metre main boom, topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold lattice swingaway extension. This can be further extended with two seven metre lattice extensions for a maximum tip height of 88 metres.

The LTR 1150 will join the company's existing LTR 1100 and LTR 1220 telescopic crawlers and has an overall weight of 60 tonnes with the counterweight removed and tracks left in place, and an overall transport width of 3.5 metres. If the tracks are removed, the weight is reduced to 38 tonnes, with a transport width of three metres, although this requires the setup jacks to be installed.

Acquired by Wilkerson Crane Rental earlier this year, Ideal Crane is based in Wisconsin, north east America and was established over 40 years ago. It runs a mixed fleet that includes cranes up to a 200 tonne five axle Grove All Terrain.
