Italian port operator Fratelli Fazio Group has placed an order for a 200 tonne Konecranes Gottwald ESP.9 mobile harbour crane for its operations at Sicily's Port of Augusta. The crane will be the first Generation 6 model delivered to Italy when it arrives in the third quarter of this year.
A Generation 6 mobile harbour crane
The crane has a maximum capacity of 200 tonnes and a maximum radius of 59 metres. It is mounted on 10 axle chassis with a cab height of 27 metres. It features dual power options, incorporating both an external power supply connection for future electrification and two onboard diesel generator sets for autonomous operation.
The crane will primarily handle heavy general cargo, including project loads and wind power components, while also supporting container operations at the port.
procurement manager Gabriele Fazio said: "This will be our first Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour crane. It's a very important addition to our existing fleet. The investment strengthens our long standing relationship with Konecranes, giving us the capability to handle even the most challenging cargo with confidence."
The new crane complies with Italy's current sustainability and digitalisation standards, making it eligible for government incentives. Fratelli Fazio has operated several generations of Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour cranes at the port over recent decades.
