Grove trio for Franz Bracht

German rental company Franz Bracht has taken delivery of three Grove All Terrain cranes - one 120 tonne GMK5120L and two 80 tonne GMK4080Ls.

The GMK5120L


The five axle GMK5120L features a seven section 66 metre main boom, topped by a 9.4 to 16 metres bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset for a maximum onboard tip height of 85 metres. An 8.1 metre insert installed between boom nose and swingaway takes that to 93 metres. The GMK5120L was first transported to Munich for display at Bauma before a formal handover at the Grove service station in Langenfeld and final delivery to Bracht's facility in Krefeld.

The two GMK4080Ls


The two four axle GMK4080L cranes have a 60 metre, seven section main boom with an optional 8.7 to 15 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset and manual or hydraulic luffing, for a maximum tip height of 78 metres. It can carry up to 13.3 tonnes of its 19.1 tonne counterweight within 12 tonnes axle limits or achieve 10 tonnes axle loads with 5.2 tonnes of counterweight.

The GMK5120L on display at Bauma prior to delivery


All three cranes feature upgraded CCS crane control systems with improved functions for slew and hoist.

Established in 1964, Franz Bracht is based in Erwitte and operates from 16 locations with 800 employees in North Rhine-Westphalia with a fleet that includes around 295 mobile cranes with capacities ranging from seven to 1,600 tonnes. It also provides heavy haulage services and has more than 200 aerial work platforms in the fleet of its Hofmann Kranvermietung subsidiary.
