Dolezych reaches 90

German lifting sling, rigging gear and tie down manufacturer and supplier Dolezych has celebrated 90 years in business.

The company was established in 1935 by Franz Dolezych with the production and manufacture of wire ropes. The product range has since expanded to include lashing straps, lashing chains, round slings and chain sets as well as lifting straps.

The company operates from Dortmund harbour, where it has been based for more than 70 years. Udo and Tim Dolezych the second and third generation of the family currently run the business.

Dolezych employs 650 people across eight locations in Poland, the United States, China, Chile, Ukraine, Russia and Turkey. The Dortmund headquarters is home to 250 of its employees as well as the central research and development department.

The company has contributed to many notable projects including the 1995 Reichstag wrapping by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, which utilised 2,430 Dolezych lashing straps a total of 25 kilometres of webbing across 109,400 square metres of fabric.
