Fatal rental yard incident

A man died on Thursday last week in an incident at an aerial lift rental company in Sittard, the Netherlands.

The man, 32, an employee of Collé Rental and Sales, was working with a machine in the yard, reportedly a scissor lift, when something went wrong all we know for certain at this point is that he suffered serious head injuries.

After some local treatment he was taken to hospital where he died later that day.

The Dutch Labour Inspectorate has confirmed the information and has launched an investigation into what exactly happened.

The company has made the following statement:

"It is with deep sorrow that we must inform you that one of our valued colleagues has passed away as a result of an industrial accident that has taken place on Thursday June 5th.
The accident occurred at our company location in Sittard and the colleague was taken to the hospital by ambulance. With deep sadness we received the news that he has passed from his injuries.We are deeply affected by this tragic loss."

"He was a very committed and valued colleague and his dedication, personality and collegiality will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are currently with his family, friends and close colleagues."

"The authorities are doing an investigation and during this investigation we can’t share any more information on what happened."

This was a tragic week for the business, and the Collé family, in that not only did it have this incident to deal with, but the following day it lost its former owner Frans Collé.
