UK rental company Select Plant Hire has ordered nine Skyjack electric and hybrid articulated boom lifts for its powered access division.
Select was the first company on the UK to both of Skyjack's new 45 and 60ft all electric boom lifts after they were launched last summer. The move was and is part of the company’s programme to renew its fleet with greener, more sustainable power options. The latest purchase follows the positive performance and customer acceptance of the two trial units.
The booms have working heights of 15.72 and 20.29 metres respectively, the SJ45 has a 300kg unrestricted capacity with 7.62 metres working outreach at an up & over height of 7.45 metres. The SJ60 has a dual platform capacity of 300kg at the maximum outreach of 12.06 metres - in other words unrestricted - or 454kg at a working outreach of up to 9.25 metres at an up & over height of 8.31 metres. The overall weights are marginally higher than the diesel versions at 5,488kg and 8,888kgs respectively.
Select product leader Tom Barrow: said: “At Select we are driving the shift towards more sustainable construction and are constantly looking for ways to improve the environmental impact of our fleet including introducing electric and hybrid plant where possible. The positive trial feedback from both operators and customers cemented our decision to renew our access fleet with the Skyjack electric machines.”
Dean Mark of Skyjack Europe added: “Select Plant Hire’s investment in our latest range of electric and hybrid booms is a clear testament to the industry's shift toward sustainable solutions, and at Skyjack we are committed to delivering equipment that aligns with the future of responsible construction. By choosing energy efficient machinery, customers are not only enhancing operational performance but also reducing environmental impact.”
